MARVEL KNIGHTS: SPIDER-MAN #17 “WILD BLUE YONDER pt. 5 (6)

After finding out that Ethan is really a Skrull with a mission of destruction. Can Spider-man and the Fantastic Four overt tragedy???

This is another fun issue from Hudlin, it’s not the best issue of the arc, but it does what it sets out to do. The story here is broken down into two parts, one focuses on the situation with the Absorbing Man drugs. The other is dealing with Ethan’s heritage, guest staring the Fantastic Four. The story progression on both fronts is good. There is some goofy dialogue with the Fantastic Four, but Hudlin definitely does seem to have their voice. And with the ending, all things look to be heading for a BIG showdown next issue.

The opening panels are pretty good and even the scenes in JJ’s office are OK. And the street scenes with Spider-man are fine, plus there’s the real nice reflection in Spidey’s eye’s panel. Things flake when we come across the Fantastic Four. Sue looks awful, her head is too big and she just looks vacant. The rest is fine, except at the end there’s a really bad panel with The Owl. Inconsistency’s are Tan’s problem on this book and take away from the good work he does do.
