At Ouka Academy, a prestigious, private boys’ high school, the handsome blond bombshell, Yuushi Kitou is the esteemed Student Council President.  Also known as, “The Prince,” he seems flawless and he’s the object of desire of every girl that passes him by.  Boys have crushes on him, also!  He and his sidekick/Vice-President Akira Takamura make a formidable pair, but there is someone who thinks Akira is the real brains behind the Student Council outfit.  He is school newspaper reporter, Hirohito Katakura, and he can’t stand Kitou’s charmed life.  He’ll do anything to ruin “The Prince’s” reputation, even if he has to lie, cheat, and maybe even kidnap someone to do it.

THE LOWDOWN:  While the dust jacket indicates that Invisible Boy, Vol. 2 is yaoi manga, it really isn’t.  Invisible Boy 2 is boys’ love manga that’s more about boys who deeply admire one another and who might even have a hard crush on another guy than it is about hardcore boy on boy romance.

Hotaru Odagiri has created a dense multi-character epic that is like a nighttime teen soap opera, but it’s missing something.  The opening chapter in this volume is an interlude that features a female character as the lead.  In it, a shy young woman from a girls’ private academy, who has a crush on Kitou, actually meets him.  Entitled “Tea with the President,” it’s a rather nice story, and proves that Invisible Boy could use more girls.

POSSIBLE AUDIENCE:  With page after page of beautifully drawn, well-dressed boys, Invisible Boy 2 will appease those looking for light BL.
