Fantasy/Action; Rated “YA” for “Young Adults 16+”

Haruhiko Kanou is a high school student with a penchant for fixing and building mechanical and electrical appliances, but he also holds the power of the late demon lord, Fulcanelli, in his body.  Fulcanelli’s demon lady friend, Eukanaria, wants to use Haruhiko’s body as a vessel for Fulcanelli’s soul, which would mean expelling Haruhiko’s soul from his own body.  Haruhiko also bears a striking resemblance to Fulcanelli, and Eukanaria looks like Yuka Fujikawa, who was a childhood friend of Haruhiko’s.  Six years older than Haruhiko, Yuka is now his high school teacher, and she has strong feelings for him.

In Enchanter, Vol. 7, love is in the air.  Haruhiko is still struggling with expressing his love to Yuka, and Eukanaria is somewhat jealous of Haruhiko’s feelings for his high school teacher.  Meanwhile, Haruhiko’s school boy pals, Okada and Motoki, are really pushing him to help them set up something for the school’s cultural festival.  Then, Motoki falls under the sway of someone’s magic.

THE LOWDOWN:  For all its supernatural elements, Enchanter is a very involved character drama with a loaded mythology.  The reader would literally need a checklist to keep up with the characters, and an index or glossary of magical terms and items to understand the fantasy element.  With that said, what keeps Enchanter interesting is all the fanservice – a never ending parade of female characters dressed in breast-revealing tops and butt cheek-revealing short, shorts.  The high number of times the artist, Izumi Kawachi, presents panty, crotch/camel toe shots is almost criminal… almost.

POSSIBLE AUDIENCE:  Readers who want fantasy and T&A will like this.
