Many tales have been told of the time when heros faced magic and monsters without fear. History has exaggerated many of their feats. Not all Knights bravely rode their white chargers into battle against evil forces...and not all Princesses were beautiful and benevolent. But their were brave hero's to be found, if one listened to the right stories. One such hero was Dirk the Daring, a noble knight whose missions often put him in great peril. Dirk's past is a story for another time, but he had more then proven his name. Astride his white stallion Bertram, he freed many lands from evil forces, but most of his victories were won against the Dread Dragons. These fire breathing monstrosities crawled and flew out of the Dark Kingdom, a land where nothing good resided...or if it did, it didn't survive long. Dirk had slain so many of the dragons that he became known by the people of the lands as a Dragon-Slayer. But to the giant Lizards, he was known as their most hated enemy. The most evil of them all was Singe, and he had sworn an oath to kill Dirk the Daring, and to destroy all that the knight held dear! What Dirk loved the most was Princess Daphne, a beautiful and feisty girl who had done quite a lot of adventuring on her own. Neither of them would be prepared though, when Singe decided to fulfill his deadly oath...

Based on the classic Arcade game, Dragon's Lair #1 is a huge, 64 page volume that is comprised of Dragon's Lair #1-3, with the final 3 parts to be published as single issue's in the future. Pretty much every Gamer should know about Dragon's Lair, before I picked this up, I knew about it like everyone else...But to be completely honest, i've never actually played any version of Dragon's Lair...ever. I've alway's had this pre Conceived notion about what Dirk the Daring was like, so it took a couple of page's for me to get use to the fact that he is almost nothing like I thought he was. I really loved this comic because it's telling the most classic story you could imagine "Knight goes on a quest to rescue the Princess" and it doesn't pull any trick's to disguise it's cliched story, in fact, it takes pride in it, which is exactly what it should be doing.

The art has a very "Disney" feel to it, similar to "ROKKIN" but even more so, as far as I can remember, all of the Dragon's Lair art (through out the years, in various different formats) has alway's looked this way, so this is nothing strange. The art is simply perfect. It was obvious to me, after reading just a few pages, that this wasn't something thrown together just to make a few dollars off a recognizable name, Dragon's Lair is fantastic, and certainly worth your money.
