Crisis Aftermath: The Spectre # 3 (of 3)

A disappointing finale for what started as a promising series. Detective Crispus Allen finally agrees to become host of the Spectre only to learn that his duties require him to do some very heart-wrenching things. At least that is what the creators were working towards. Instead, they waste some of the most potentially-dramatic scenes in today's comics. Perhaps they were trying for something more meaningful by not wallowing in pathos but in the end, we get a story that fails to deliver. Chiang's art is adequate but fails to uplift the issue. It is hard to see how this miniseries could be used as a launchpad to continuing series for the ghostly avenger. I see another Spectre revamp about five years down the road. Hopefully, they won't have to destroy Atlantis to do it.
