Chain Gang War

Chain Gang War is the type of comic book series making people ask themselves, years after it was cancelled why it didn't work. It was about three neurotic jailers who captured villains in a city near Gotham (probably Blüdhaven) threw them in a custom prison.

The art was by some guy named Johnson-It was dynamic, extremely good and stylized.

The city they were in might have been Bludhaven in retrospect. The villains were the Batman colourful type. The story was crisp with losts of action, cliff hangers. The three jailers and their hired cook/janitor were all suffering from some type of neurosis.

To this day, I do not understand why this book failed? It was that good. it was fresh and very unDC. It had more spike than an Image book, but with better art and better storytelling. Even the ending was cliffhanger. Why o why did this little treasure fail?

I suggest that you find the entire run 1-12 and enjoy it in one slow weekend. You will not regret it.
