Avi Weinryb was born and raised in
Toronto , Canada . He is a recent graduate of the University of Toronto , having earned a B.A. (Hons) degree in English literature. He is considering pursuing a law degree, with a focus on human rights law. That way, he can be a real life superhero! Avi originally wanted to be an English professor, but an instructor successfully discouraged him from attempting to pursue a PhD in English, informing him that “only half of English PhDs get jobs”.

Avi has always had a keen interest in journalism and creative writing. Beyond editing and writing for the ‘Comic Book Bin’, Avi is also a contributor to downtown
Toronto ’s ‘The Varsity’ newspaper. He enjoys photo-journalism, and has had numerous photographs displayed in various local shows over the last few years.

Also a talented dramatic writer, Avi was an accepted student participant in Universal Studios Canada’s ‘Screenwriter in Residence’ program at U of T’s Innis College . He is currently in the midst of penning a second draft of a screenplay he started in the program.

Having served for two years as the vice-president of a large campus organization, Avi performed award-winning work, enriching campus life through innovative arts and cultural programming.

Avi edits a semi-popular blog, performs in terrible Youtube videos, and is currently working in a photography supply store to pay the bills. Oh, and did we mention that he is a HUGE fan of comics? Independent and mainstream works from around the world make up a regular part of his eclectic reading diet.
