The final showdown with Aquaman versus Black Manta finally comes. Now that Black Manta can breathe underwater, his chances for survival are also increased. To attack Aquaman where he can still hurt him, Manta gives weapons to specific Atlantean survivors, hoping to create unrest in Sub Diego.

Because Black Manta has earned a unique reputation in the 1970s as the murderer of Aquaman’s infant son, every time he returns in a comic book, writers are trying to find more ways for him to hurt the hero. After the destruction in Atlantis, there is not much left for him to do, yet he tries. Black Manta is beginning to look more like Mr Glass in Unbreakable rather than himself.

Williams has a cartoon-like style that is dynamic. There are very few backgrounds in this issue, which takes away from the overall effectiveness of the comic book.
