Atlantis is formally reinstated in this series as Aquaman tries to penetrate Atlantis’ security and fetch his wife from the sorcerers keeping her captive. Aquaman shows why he’s the hero of Atlantis as he easily breaches through all the defences of the city. Meanwhile, Black Manta recruits alienated blacks from Sub Diego attempting to ignite racial conflicts with them, the rest of the citizenry and Aquaman.

The best part of the story is the beginning where Aquaman shows how he can make a date with him a remarkable feat to remember. But the quiet moments are easily brushed aside with the Sub Diego politics and more scheming from Geist. Throughout this issue, one major theme has been mis-communications. The ending points this very well.

Kirk provides solid layouts over which Clarke ads his distinctive styling. Kirk is a strong storyteller and his page composition is as dynamic as it can be, given the muted tone of the story.
