Google just released new numbers on what version of Android is being used by users' phones. Éclair (2.1) is now 55% used Android users. 1.5 is down at 18.9 and 1.6 at 24.6. Only 3.3% are using Froyo (2.2) the latest Android build. That would be all of the Nexus One users and the hardcore Android users that root their phones. As mentioned in a previous post, we decided that the upcoming ComicBookBin app, which by the way is back on track with me working 12 hours a day on the project since Saturday, would support 1.6 and up. I'm not sure there's anything that would stop 1.5 users to use the app though. Using an emulator is a bit of a pain sometimes to test things like that.

I'm on 2.2 myself, thanks to my trusty Nexus One and the automatic updates. Right now, I'm playing with the newsreader gallery which flows faster than on the iPhone version of our app. Not sure if the speed will stay as the project moves along. It was as fast before I got the 2.2 update, so I've got good vibes about this regarding users of older versions of Android.
