Amour/The Evil Inside #6 cover image

With Amour/The Evil Inside #6, Approbation Comics’ horror anthology, The Evil Inside, and its romance anthology, Amour, come to an end.  Written by creator Bart A. Thompson, the combo title Amour/The Evil Inside offers stories of romance with a terror story twist.

This final issue presents three tales of chilly love.  First, a pleasure cruise finds heroes in disguise and monsters from the deep in “Submerged” (art by Paco Zarco).  Then, a cheater discovers the evil inside in the cautionary tale, “Promiscuous” (art by Kevin Richardson).  Finally, a drunken party girl discovers that heroism is more than meets the eye in “The Bar Hopper” (art by Ezequiel Pineda).

THE LOWDOWN:  In this issue, the stories seem a little bit harsher or even meaner than in the previous Amour/The Evil Inside jam.  “Submerged,” unfortunately, is a scene and not a story, which is a pity; a fully developed version would probably make a good monster story.  “Promiscuous” has a good “Tales from the Darkside” feel, and its brevity doesn’t stop it from being a good tale, although it also has the potential to be something larger.  Still, Thompson has created an entertaining blend of the horror and romance genres that entertains in surprising ways.

POSSIBLE AUDIENCE:  Readers looking for unusual comic books will find it in Amour/The Evil Inside.
