Sam and his fighters battle another group of oddly-named government super-thugs only to be countered by another old Quality Comics hero-- there she is, Miss America! A few other successors of old Quality Comics heroes make an appearance as well, adding some mystery and excitement to this story which is a good thing because the action scenes in this story are seriously lacking in excitement. Partly, this is because the writers insist on putting all this dialogue and banter between the heroes and their antagonists which slows down the flow of the story. Partly, it is because the art, while looking very lush and impressive, can also look rather stiff. Acuna apparently has trouble drawing punches as his characters are often seen swinging their arms in odd positions. This miniseries just isn't very much fun because it has all these pretensions about being a serious debate about the nature of America. But you can't take the bad guys' viewpoints seriously as they are depicted as outright villains which make them about as realistic-- or as relevant-- as Darkseid or Dr. Doom.
