While the Squadron Supreme and the Ultimate Avengers fight to a standstill, someone else is plotting to take advantage of this and plans on conquering this new universe.
This is the part of the story that stands just before the heroes realize that they have misunderstood each other and pair up to defeat the common enemy. It sure looked like it because not much happened in this issue. This is comic book padding that is contemptuous of readers. I dislike the way this mini-series is turning out. Instead of pushing further, it just serves up an endless of comic book clichés. Reading this issue was like reading a bad rehash of Avengers versus the Justice League.
The artwork is nice as always, but Land has so little material to work with that he draws big exposition panels and shots of angry people with their mouth wide open grinning at the other side. There is no storytelling per say. This issue could have been done in about five pages in the 1980s.The cover seemed more exploitative than anything else. Why else would they feature beautiful chicks on the cover? Is it because they know the story has no substance and they are trying to promote Ultimate Power as a poster book instead of a comic book?
