I’ve stumbled across Two Guys and Guy, a Web comic by Swedish cartoonist Rickard Jonasson. He started in 2011 and updates three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The comic strip features three friends, or what Jonasson describes as frenemies. They are Wayne (the blond one), Guy (the girl) and Frank (the weirdo). Each strip is a three-panel gag about their weird relationships.

There is a lot dark humour and weirdness grounded in realistic settings, like their home. One fun thing about the comic strip is that its continuity is non-existent. There is no point trying to make sense of the characters, although one gets to know them well after a few strips. They have personalities but the range of things that happen to them makes no sense. However, most stories are slice of life set in everyday commonality. Reading this comic strip is like eating pop corn. You can’t really stop although it’s not very rich or nutritious. It just becomes a habit.

Visually, the strip is great. Jonasson must devote a lot of time to drawing and colouring. The staging is simple yet the colouring is elaborate and pleasant. Jonasson does not rely on complex perspectives or detailed backgrounds. This may explain how he is able to deliver the comic strip so often.
