The daughter of a prison warden believes in Tommy Taylor so much that she begins to plot a way to rescue him the prison he is held in by her father. But this little girl’s confusion of reality and fiction may have bigger consequences that could be dreadful for those in her entourage and Tom Taylor, the character Tommy Taylor was inspired from. What kind of trouble is the warden’s daughter in?

This story takes a break, so to say from the regular Unwritten story, but more still fits in the overall story. I’m not sure where the writer is going with that one as it will be solved, possibly next issue. Yet, Carey builds every story carefully and adds a whole universe of insight and motivation behind the character. As entertaining this story was, I having a feeling that this issue and the one before that we have sidestepped aside from the main thrust of this series, unless Carey plans on developing the entire universe of Tom Taylor in this series.

Sometimes, it’s annoying to review the work of a regular comic book artist who delivers the same quality every month in a series. When the artist just executes well, there is nothing to say than continue patting him on the back. There’s really nothing to say about Gross’ work. He delivers quality every issue to the same level and contributes to the feel and popularity of this series.  His work does little to interfere with the entire experience drawn from this The Unwritten.
