Bumblebee now in charge of the Autobots decides it’s time to recruit some airpower to help his teammates versus the rogue Decepticons working for North Korea. His solution is to get one of the elite seekers from Megatron’s own army. Will Thundercracker fall for Bubblebee’s bait?

I was afraid that Skywarp had totally killed off Thundercracker after the latter’s betrayal in the Hail Megatron series.  Transformers comics don’t always ship at my store for some reason, so I tend to miss a lot of issues. I’m glad to see Thundercracker and that this series is finally giving him his dues and the best portrayal since that one episode way way back in 1984 where he considered framing Starscream for treachery in Fire in the Mountain cartoon. Since then, he’s just been room filler and mostly silent. Whereas Skywarp was kind of an idiot, he wasn’t but he didn’t say much. Of course, with Starscream always taking all the glory it’s hard to stand out. Well if there are any Thundercracker fans out there, this issue is for them.

I really like how in this series IDW Publishing sticks with the initial characters instead of mixing it with many of the latter ones that many just don’t know. I know they publish other Transformers series that have some of the newer guys around. I like how they mix and match it all overall.

Guidi’s work is good, but he’s not the best Transformers artist around. Yet, he’s good for action and it’s easy to follow what’s going on in the page. He may be a bit low key and not hot on the ornate stuff drawn by other Transformers artist, but he’s a good value and great for this series.

Rating: 8.5 /10
