“And God said, ‘Let there be light’”…Zzaapppp!!... “And there was light”.

Even if you're not a religious person, you probably know the story of Jesus, the Ten Commandments, and what the New Testament represents. Well, the fundamentals may not have changed and are wonderfully retained and reproduced in ‘The Manga Bible’. It's probably best to take everything that you knew about the Bible and put it aside because The Manga Bible proves that even a story as revered as that of Jesus Christ can be told using a completely different and refreshing medium; manga.

The most entertaining aspect of this rendition of the Bible (from Genesis to Revelation) is how each part of the New Testament has been so effortlessly reproduced into something savvy, modern and relative. It is now so much easier to understand the concepts of the Bible without having to decipher anything. If you’ve ever read the Bible, you will know that the sequences outlined in it are not that easy to follow and the text in the Bible doesn’t flow the way a normal storyline should. It’s really more like a journal depicting people and events. The Manga Bible does away with all of that and makes the reading of each event so much easier.

The use of imagery also makes things a lot more fun to read and of course, entertaining. With art work that is so familiar (2000 A.D, anyone?) and skilfully drawn, The Manga Bible is a showcase of brilliance for all regardless of where your religious convictions may lie. It is appealing on so many levels which makes it instantly accessible to everyone. For some, the thought of reading anything at all to do with the Bible may seem like an arduous task. The Manga Bible is by far the best way to learn about Jesus and in my opinion, is an absolute must-have book. Jesus never looked so awe-inspiring.

The Manga Bible comes complete with a ‘Key Scenes Commentary’ section, glossary and words from the writer/artist and an excellent sketches section. There are also key references throughout the book to various sections of the Bible for those readers who may want to further their reading.
