Iron Man can finally return to the land of the living now that he accepts his fate. But the Ghost is about to destroy his body and kill his friends. Will Iron Man make it in time to rescue everyone?

This story which started so well was padded through the end into an interminable boring saga that should have been wrapped up in two issues. I bet Marvel Comics will try to sell this as an essential Iron Man story in a few months. I’m not interested. Fraction proved he could do magic on this series, but his work on the Uncanny X-Men and Iron Man for the last six issues has been poor. He seems to be one of those writers that goes from one extreme to another without a stable middle ground. Some readers might enjoy the mental introspection and exploration of Tony Stark’s character. I’m not one of them apparently.

I’m repeating myself here, but Larroca is working with poor material yet making it all look great. I’ll write it again. It’s a waste of his talent to be given so little to work with. But it’s also a compliment to his skills that he can make a bad story look so good.
