Chun Li and fellow officer Po Lin almost get killed when they interfere in a police robbery. Worse, someone wants to kill Chun Li’s father and even former martial arts master and assassin Gen cannot figure out who is responsible. Will Chun Li save her father from hired guns?
The highlight of this issue is the beautiful artwork. I like Dogan’s take on the Street Fighter characters. They look like manga designs, while keeping the solidity of Western illustrations. His layouts and storytelling are also much different from a typical manga and thus he really merges two influences to create a beautiful whole. And the colours Dogan uses are classic animé with insight.
Of course, the stories from the Street Fighter series by Udon are always weak. This issue is actually better thought out and with more material to peruse. However, it’s difficult to understand where this issue fits with what has happened previously. It seems that the writer is still exposing the basic plot elements of the story, instead of developing them.
