Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) announced a new insider information service for Playstation 3 users today. Launching tomorrow, Qore: Presented by Playstation Network is a highly interactive, monthly original program covering the world of Playstation, and it is only available through the Playstation Store for Playstation 3. Qore will feature exclusive multimedia news, developer interviews, in-depth game previews, and behind-the-scenes looks at Playstation titles.

Qore will be delivered in high-definition and allow users to customize their own experience using their SIXAXIS or DualShock 3 controllers. As Sony puts it, gamers will act as the “directors” of the content, changing how they access and control the way they view Qore content, utilizing mulltiple windows, picture-in-picture and other features. Qore subscribers will also get special access to game demos, betas, add-ons and other downloadable and game-related content.

" Original content, community-related services and innovative products are a major focus for the PLAYSTATION Network this year and we are pleased to introduce Qore exclusively for our customers,” said Peter Dille, senior vice president of Marketing and PLAYSTATION Network, SCEA. “ Qore is the first step in providing original content dedicated to the PLAYSTATION community and evolving the network into a place where our customers can gather, share and discover new forms of entertainment.”

There are a couple of catches however, as Qore “episodes” will not be free. A subscription to Qore will run you $24.99 USD/CAD a year, though the first “episode” will be available for an introductory price of $2.99 USD/CAD. Annual subscribers will receive thirteen episodes of Qore. In addition, availablefor a limited time only, annual subscribers will also receive the Playstation Network game Calling All Cars for free. The service will also be used as a venue for advertisers, sending users rich media advertising, including various interactive ads, video trailers, active ad pages and contextual branding. All this begs the question, if you're paying for a service that promotes media for you to purchase (essentially advertising to you), why are they adding on more advertisements?

The first episode of Qore: Presented by Playstation Network will be launching tomorrow, June 5th and will include in-depth, exclusive and never-before released content for upcoming Playstation titles like SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals Confrontation, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Secret Agent Clank, Soul Calibur 4 and Afro Samurai, plus Blu-ray Disc trailers, exclusive themes and more.
