When Artemis was introduced several issues back, it was generally assumed (by me, anyway) that she was a sister Amazon to Diana aka Wonder Woman. But that backstory hasn’t been explored until now, as Artemis shares her past – in bits and pieces – with her teammate Jason Todd.

Now that we have been told who she is and how she came to be, it’s time once more for her to resume her path in search of the Bow of Ra. However this time, she is aided and abetted by the other two Outlaws, Red Hood and Bizarro. Sounds kind of like the Three Stooges meets Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I love Kenneth Rocafort’s artwork, as if he borrowed a little from Michael Turner and a little from Gray Morrow, and then turned it all into his own. I hope he stays on this series as much as he can. If not, I’ll have to go looking for him. And Dan Brown’s color work is very well suited to Rocafort’s rendering style.

So as this issue comes to a close, we are promised another madcap adventure. Perhaps Jason just feels he owes Artemis a bit. Or maybe he just doesn’t know where his next adventure is coming from. Or maybe he has a deeper interest. And why not? She bears a striking resemblance to a cosplayer I met a few years back. Either way, tune in next month.
