Judging by the  credits on this issue, I am led to believe this was an inventory story; something taken from the slush pile while regular writer Sam Humphries takes a bit of time off. I enjoy done-in-ones very much, so this issue was very enjoyable for me.

Dick Grayson had hoped to enjoy a rare night off, but Damian in Gotham calls him asking for help. And then Roy Harper aka Speedy (also in Gotham) send him a text. So off he goes to lend a hand, only to discover that Damian and Roy are working the same case from opposite ends.

It’s great to see Dick palling around with his former Titans teammates. And Damian as well, although after two issues in a row, I’m beginning to wonder whose sidekick Robin really is. There’s only so much of the surly little bugger I can handle, so I hope he’s not featured in Nightwing to very often. Roy on the other hand is more tolerable, even if he is a bit of bro. He needs to lose the backwards cap thing; it’s not working for him.

There was a time when comic artists developed their skills on back-up features. Today, they do it by way of the inventory stories, that helps editors refine the work and judge their response to critique andwork ethic. I could be wrong, but Minkyu Jung and Felipe Sobreiro seem ready for prime time. Their work together is as good if not better than some of the regular artists featured in ongoing titles.
