How do you take the bobble head craze to the next level? Answer: You make big-headed action figures instead about a bunch of fighter that don’t bubble and look as mean as the real thing. This is what Markham, Canada-based Round 5 has been doing with its World of MMA Champion series of action figures. For years decades collectors had all types of action figures to choose from whatever federation they were based in. Now, Mix Martial Artist fans can also collect action figures of their favourite fighters.
Already in its third action figure series, Round 5’s World of MMA Champion features many of the best known mix martial artists such as Randy Couture and Antonio Nogueira. In all there are but 12 action figures to collect, making it easy for new collectors to get on board, before it’s too late to complete sets.
Series 1 featured Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, Matt Hughes and Quinton Jackson. Series Two featured Rich Franklin, Sean Sherk and Wanderlei Silva. Series, released in early 2009 features Andrei Arlovski, Big John McCarthy, Frank Mir and Antonio Nogueira. Each action figure is about six inches, and according to the Round 5, have 8 points of articulations, although I could only count 6 possible ones at the neck, the wrists, the waist, and the shoulders. The figures retail for about $17 USD.
