Harley may be crazy, but it’s a sweet kind of crazy. So when her favorite mailman is the victim of a crime by knights on horseback, that’s just the kind of crazy Harley is especially equipped to deal with. And the fact that the NYPD commissioner is willing to offer a reward while looking the other certainly helps.

It’s a WonderBra of a story, as it lifts and separates elements from such movies as the Blues Brothers, Sid & Nancy, and Payback. And that’s okay, because there are only seven stories in the world anyway. Everything else is merely variations on those seven.

One of the things I enjoy about the book is its subtle humor, as if the jokes are being written with the attitude of “The right people will get this.” There may be a great deal of NYC culture in play, which goes over the heads of those of us from fly-over country, but you write what you know, y’know? I won’t hold that against Palmiotti and Connor.

The artwork is consistent with what’s come before (which was GREAT!), as John Timms has graduated from inks and finishes to solo work. However, I prefer his earlier collaborations, but that’s just my personal taste. Others may feel differently, and I’m fine with that.
