In this alternate universe, Dick Grayson is, well, a dick. All ego and testosterone, he is the worst example of your typical frat bruh. Why Kara Gordon would put her neck out to save him is beyond me. It seems only Catwoman had the right idea as to what to do with him from the get go.

But part of that is because Catwoman has an agenda of her own. So perhaps things aren’t too different in this DC/Mad Max mash-up. At the end of the chapter, all I could think (in a bad Australian accent) is: “If it’s all the same to you, I’ll drive that tankah.”

But the issue has few surprises for the reader, such as how they integrate an established DCU character into this reality. Some seem obvious (and are mercifully brief), while others take a more unexpected turn.

Artwork by Aneke is okay, but by page 20, I begin to see a little sloppiness creep onto the page. It’s almost as if it was drawn by someone less talented. Perhaps a monthly deadline is beyond the abilities of some comic artists. That’s okay; I leave it up to the publisher to find them a project where speed is not essential.
