Pieces of a Dream
'Fragments' by Tom England And Christopher Bernard Leahy is an enjoyable and elegant combination of words and pictures centered around man's relationship to nature birds, and water and in particular, a river (the river Mersey, Liverpool).
Speculating on how this river is viewed and what it really represents, we are shown many facets of 'river life'. We see this river through the eyes (and senses) of an assortment of characters; returning amblers, fisherman, artists and a fantastical beast.
I love the artwork here. It is simple, yet detailed, expressive and lovingly rendered. The writing is strong, meaty, evocative and very accomplished. As with 'Mallard 6' reading this was a joy.
