When filmmaker Kevin Smith revealed the stars of his much anticipated movie, Zack & Miri Make a Porno, he really got fans buzzing. Seth Rogen, the newly minted comedy superstar responsible for a lot of the success of this past summer’s box-office hits, Knocked Up and Superbad is set to play Zack. And his co-star and fellow title character is actress Elizabeth Banks.

Astute filmgoers will recognize banks from her roles in the Spider-Man films and her recent appearance in Fred Claus. She also carried a role in Seabiscuit. For those unfamiliar with her work, in comparison to rising comedy star Rogen, it should be known that Banks is an absolutely hilarious comedy performer in her own right.

Prior to her run on the comedy television series Scrubs, Elizabeth Banks was featured in David Wain’s cult-comedy classic, Wet Hot American Summer. Her recent performance in his YouTube series, Wainy Days, allowed her the opportunity to play a sexually overzealous book designer named Shelley. She is featured in the first two episodes, the first of which is viewable below this article.

As Kevin Smith recently told MTV Movies, “If you see her stuff with David Wain and the ‘Stella’ guys, if you’ve seen her in ‘Wet Hot American Summer,’ you know she’s f—ing funny”. Audiences will have a chance to see Banks racking up the laughs when Smith’s Porno is released. Until then, online productions such as the Wainy Days series provide a sneak peek at some of the comedy prowess Banks is preparing to unleash.
