While Deathstroke continues to rot in jail after having being captured by Superman, his handler unleashes the charges that he will use to keep him locked in. Elsewhere, Jericho learns about why he has super powers and why Rose, his sister, can predict the future. But will all of this information help Slade Wilson escape from jail?

The first thing I have to say is that Christopher Priest must be enjoying himself dragging out the ten percent of the brain myth to piss off reviewers like me. He probably knows it’s bogus but it’s straight from Deathstroke’s history from Pre New 52 and it sounds cool even though we know better. Neuroscience be damned.

The rest of the issue was readable. I did not care for the flashback about the deathstroke sword which gave Slade Wilson his villain’s name, although it is used to explain Jericho’s mutant powers. Priest continues to draw from the old Deathstroke lore, modernizing everything for 2017. Priest seems to enjoy pocking fun at his readers telling them that all that he’s writing is from the good old comics of long ago but with a twist. At least, this issue was enjoyable, which with Priest is really a hit or miss usually.

Cary Nord is just not right for this book. I usually like his work but this is not the kind of series where he shines. The Slade in prison scenes were painful to watch. His storytelling of the Bosnian attack in the flashback made no sense and due to equally bad lettering and dialogues, it was unclear who was speaking. The characters in this book tend to share the same voice.

Rating: 7 /10
