Killer Frost’s army continues to besiege Leningrad, but I may have missed something, because last issue, I thought Zatanna turned Killer Frost into a tree, and handed her over to Abigel Kholland. Regardless, it provides us with a brief recount of Killer Frost’s origin, and her affiliation with Hugo Strange…

…Who, in the meantime, is coping with the anger of the General – Gen. Faora Hu-Ul, of Krypton. She’s very much modeled on the role as played by Antje Traue in Man of Steel, but I don’t see that as a bad thing. But what deeper secret does Faora hold that could spell doom for Supergirl and her allies?

I’ve enjoyed the past two issues, but this was a bit disappointing. I’d hoped the Bombshells to be less of an excuse for pin-ups, but this issue, not really. Supergirl’s costume seems ridiculously risqué for the time period, and others, such as Raven, equally so.

Perhaps this is due to a slight unevenness of the artwork in general. Faora seemed to have a greater lethal menace in her brief appearance last issue. Here, she is rendered in such a way as to merely appear mentally imbalanced.

But in addition to Killer Frost’s origin, we also come to understand Faora’s motivations, and her ambitions post-Krypton. Excessive dialogue during fight scenes is also a no-no in my book. I’ve been to the movies; dialogue only works in a fight scene if people are not moving.

Rating: 7/10
