Mary Carmody married the man of her life but he died one day as she pulled out of the joint their suicide pact. She discovered the Honest World Foundation instead and became part of the cult, rose through the rank until the day she lost faith. This issue is the story of a rank and file person part of the Honest World Foundation.

Having just started reading this series a few issues ago, I was a bit surprised by this standalone story. It seems to be an interruption from the storyline from the last two issues, although it made a lot of sense. It’s a simple story who may bring in a new player. I don’t know. I’m not sure what the point is either and how that reflects on other things happening elsewhere.

The point of this story though, is that it dealt with grief and pain. It deal with the fear of abandonment and betrayal we feel for people. It also was about love, the lost kind particularly.

Sanya Anwar is a good artist for this issue as she’s good with drawing everyday people, places and things. Funilly, Anwar would also be a great artist for the new Archie series with realistic characters. Her work looks cartoony but not too much. It’s far more realistic than Love and Rockets.

Rating: 8 /10
