Boys
don't like playing Electronic Arts' dancing and karaoke game,
Boogie
.
That must be the case, because the press release for the next game in
the franchise,
Boogie Superstar
,
only talks about girls, and how much girls will love the game and the
experience it will provide girls, all while completely avoiding any
mention of boys or anything gender neutral for that matter. In fact,
the press release uses the word a total of nine times. So, if you're
of the male persuasion, you have no reason for reading any further
through this article.
Now
that we've got that out of the way, Electronic Arts' Casual
Entertainment Label announced the next installment of the
Boogie
franchise today,
Boogie
Superstar
. The game will be
launching
exclusively for Wii
and “provides girls the ultimate gaming experience: to sing and
dance their way to superstardom!” (no we didn't make any of that
up).
Boogie Superstar
features
over 40 songs made famous by artists like Rihanna, Fegie, Katy Perry,
Leona Lewis, Alicia Keys, Britney Spears and more. Oh, yeah, there
are a couple of male led bands and male performers in there too, like
Maroon 5, Good Charlotte and Kanye West. EA will also be adding on
another 30 songs for the international versions of the game, giving
players from around the world the chance to perform songs from their
own local artists, like Melissa M (France), Monrose (Germany), Finley
(Italy) and Fito y Fitipaldis (Spain).

Of
course, girls won't just be playing along with the game, they'll be
its stars. “Girls will have a blast belting their favourite tunes”
and performing real dance moves. The game also include multiplayer
for two or four players, in which “girls can play with their
friends “
sing and dance with their friends of against them in fun
competitions that show-off their singing and dancing talent!”

Boogie
SuperStar
promotes
self-expression, creativity and empowerment for girls worldwide,”
said Robert Nashak, VP of Casual Studios for EA Casual Entertainment.
“We have created a game where girls don’t just observe someone
else’s rise to fame, they experience it themselves, singing and
dancing their way through a world most girls only dream about.” As
you can clearly see, even Robert Nashak says this game is for girls
only. He uses the word girls three times in his own, rather short,
quote. He apparently also feels that girls have self-expression,
creativity and empowerment issues and that this game will solve them.
Boogie
Superstar
will be releasing
exclusively for Wii this October in North America and Europe, and in
Asia in the following months. The game will cost $59.99 USD/CAD, will
come with a microphone included and has not yet been rated.
