Hank Pym, Ant-Man is killed in a lab accident. It turns out someone sabotaged his lab. The Avengers investigate the Serpent Society but before they can apprehend them, a new hero, Yellow Jacket appears and destroys them all. Can the Avengers find Hank Pym and stop Yellow Jacket?

Obviously for old fans, we all knew that Hank Pym was Yellow Jacket. He’s quite the upgrade here. I like how they continued the ongoing storyline with the character and showed how he lost it as he was plagued by doubt about his usefulness in the Avengers. Wasp of course, being who she is figures it out quickly and shows that she is indeed the most intuitive Avenger ever. I like that aspect of her character, although after this episode, I fail to see what she finds in Hank Pym. As long as they don’t show him battering her like in the comics, I’ll be fine with the crazy Hank Pym.

Yellow Jacket is actually cool in this episode until he is shown to be just Pym. But he quickly returns to the new tough character by the end of the episode and seems that he’ll rejoin the Avengers again. I didn’t like how Janet the Wasp was used as a damsel in distress to kick Yellow Jacket back into action after stumbling badly in a crazy stupor when his prison began to shrink. One would think he would have figured out that the prison was unstable. At least all of the Avengers – the original ones at least are back together in a story that mirrors much of the original comic book. Well done.

Rating: 8.5 /10
