The Enchantress with new powers goes to Loki’s prison and offers him a bargain in order to allow to escape from his captivity in Asgard. He has to destroy Thor and other Avengers that have been depowered b y a magic spell until they can find what real heroism means. Can the depowered Avengers stop Loki using the Destroyer armour?

This episode was more like an introduction had little in terms of the ongoing storyline about the big epic planned for this season. We know the Enchantress has allied herself with Surtur trying to recreate Ragnarok. The episode was mostly Thor-related with the depowered Avenger trying to learn humility and courage as a frail human. He quickly hurts his leg, which is a nice reference to his old identity in the comic books where Thor’s alter-ego was crippled.

The story was pretty straightforward but lacked much of the cool character play from the first season. How many times must we watch Thor in various stories trying to gain some humanity? This was the same plot in the recent Thor blockbuster film and the Thor Tales of Asgard story released as a direct to home cartoon last year. I did like how Hawkeye, who had remained unpowered faired as the protector of the other Avengers, instead of being their weakest link another time. I was impressed with Captain America’s resolve and leadership even when powerless.

Rating: 7 /10
