I normally make every effort to avoid spoilers, but this time, I just don’t see how I can. Action #975 is the next chapter in Superman Reborn, which launched in the pages of Superman #18. At the end of that issue, Jonathan Kent was kidnapped by the other Clark Kent.

As Action #975 begins, Superman and Lois are on their way to confront the bogus Clark. But the puzzle just gets deeper as Clark turns the tables on them. Is he Luthor? Brainiac? Doomsday? He teases the answer until the only possible culprit to this insanity is revealed.

The idea harkens back to a well-known story from the past,  and as before, the villain promises to rain down misery upon Superman and Lois like never before.

BUT WAIT! There’s more!

This is a special anniversary issue (not sure what we’re celebrating, but I’m willing to go with it), and features a bonus story by Paul Dini, a master when it comes to creating more than a little chaos in the DC Universe. The secret of Jonathan Kent is revealed, as well as the backstory to our mystery villain. Why? Where? When? Was it really like that, or was it something far more benign? Either way, crazy is as crazy does, as Jonathan is about to find out.

Well, lookee there, I made it to the end with spoiling the story with too many clues and/or hints. So if you were hoping I would give you the answer, I’m sorry to disappoint. You’ll just have to read it for yourself.
