This issue is a great read. The opening scene between Topher and Nico is enthralling. Vaughan not only distils a few myths about vampires, but he also gives us an insightful look at what can make us evil and trepidation of being a teenager. And underpinning the whole issue is the great character interaction that Vaughan has shown us from issue #1. And the ending was a nice little play on words. This series just goes from strength to strength.
The art, well, what can I say, this book always looks great. Nothing is over done, but the simpleness exudes so much feeling: it seems to heighten the experience of reading the book. Everything from the dirt on Nico’s top to the special effects. Like Chase using his gloves, or the slow motion fight scenes. And the way Gert’s empathic connection with Old Lace was actually shown was a nice touch.
