"There is some kind of sadistic joy I take in ripping on a book that's truly bad, but the fun I can also get from praising the constantly good work on another, much better book can be just as, or even more, satisfying. With 'Widow's Pass', Vaughan has crafted a thriller any other medium would kill for. And if that sounds like a cliche to you, think of it this way: I'm running out of ways to praise this series. Ah hell, I'll just make up some new words: I love Brian Vaughan's diddafjoic dialogue, in addition to his aftarsfixing plot twists." creepingterror, DC Message Boards

(tied for 2nd) Avengers/Thunderbolts #4, 11 pts
Was going very well, but got derailed by annoying interpersonal superhero relationships. Hopefully that will not be typical of the mini. The issue was meant to represent a crisis of personality conflict, where nobody trusted anybody else, but only partially succeeded at representing this.

(tied for 2nd) Firestorm #2, 11 pts
Definitely scared me more than interested me. We'll see how stable this arrangement becomes as things go along, but right now I'm worried by the fact that Firestorm seems to always involve a merger with unscrupulous people, and also because this seems to be life-threatening to the mergee very quickly.

(tied for 4th) Superman: Birthright #11, 10 pts
"A good issue, but I was expecting the action to be on a slightly grander scale. Clark is back in force and the scene with the big S shield is worth the cover price. I love the quirkiness of the art, but the lines on Clark's face seemed a little over done this time out. I've really enjoyed this series and I'll be sorry when it's done -- I'd really like to see this creative team continue the story with an on-going that covers Superman's early years, building on the Birthright continuity." Mister Miracle, DC Message Boards

(tied for 4th) Swamp Thing #4, 10 pts
This is still managing to hold my interest, but it is on a knife's edge between being a good story and just being a strange bad one. The next two issues will probably decide things.

6. Uncanny X-Men #445, 9 pts
"I will quote myself from ComiX-Fan: 'WOW! #445 was definitely the best comic out of Reload. The art was awesome, Davis really has greatly evolved as an artist since Captain Britain but he still has that same imaginitive style. The writing was excellent and Claremont really has captured the menace of The Fury!! I have started to really enjoy Cannonball, he seems like quite a nice guy, not perfect but not all dark and broody. Storm hasn't seemed that interesting from the few issues of X-treme I picked up, she seemed so stagnant but I have to say that the seeds of this relationship with Kurt has spiked my interest in her.'" 7. B.P.R.D: A Plague of Frogs #4, 7 pts
"It's pretty easy to say that this short series is by far the most effective Hellboy spinoff yet because of the presence of Mignola, and his somewhat singular writing voice. While many fine writers have attempted, and some have done very well, no one can get just the right scripting tone like the he can. Plus, it's a continuation of one of the more compelling HB storylines, the very first one. But I think that what has really gotten this series across, to me, anyway, is the outstanding art job that Guy Davis has done, wonderfully abetted by the vivid hues of colorist Dave Stewart. Between this and The Nevermen, Davis has really been on a hot streak. Not coincidentally, he's also finally figured out how to draw women that don't look like Howard Cosell. Of course, this is not perfect: sure, a major cast member dies at the end of this issue, but if you think this m.c.m. is gonna stay dead then I have some choice property I'd like to sell you. But that's a minor quibble, and fortunately we're going to get a sequel to this sequel in a few months so we can find out for sure. B.P.R.D.: A Plague of Frogs is proof, at long last, of what many of us longtime Hellboy fans suspected: that there are good, interesting tales to be told about the supporting cast. Took 'em long enough!" Johnny Bacardi, DC Message Boards

8. Spider-Girl #75, 6 pts
"May questions her methods and her movites and decides to make some changes. Most comic writers would make this a soap operaish agnstfest, but DeFalco gives us yet another straight up super hero story that's just plain FUN!" Aziraphale, DC Message Boards

(tied for 9th) Scratch #1, 5 pts
"Interesting enough start, but I have my doubts. I somehow don't see this appealing to those who aren't already fans of Sam Keith. I also can't help but wonder how Mr. Keith tends to fill up four more issues with this story. Time will tell." Aziraphale, DC Message Boards

(tied for 9th) Detective Comics #795, 5 pts
"I'm enjoying this book since Woods and Gabrych came on. Its fun Batman adventures. This has roaches, Tarantulas, and Orpheus. Fun fun fun." DubipR, DC Message Boards
