Comic fans will get a kick out of all the in-jokes in this issue of Plastic Man which has Plas going up against Ras Al Ghul, Talia acting like a ditz, the new Spectre(s), a resurrected cat and the death of Billy Batson. In fact, the in-jokes, especially those on the writing style of modern comics, may be so involved that they will escape all but the most clever comic fans. There is still some great visual humour like Plas getting stomped but with Woozy feeling the pain. There are even some clever plot twists worthy of more serious comic books. It is easy to see why this book is winning so many awards but seeing how different it is from everything else on the stands, it also shows why this title has had difficulty with sales.
