Ordinary Crush 2 brings back lovers Koichi Nanase and Tsuguhara “Heiji” Taira.  At all-male Kinsei High about 90% of the students are gay (or bisexual), so it seems natural that students, Nanase and Heiji, have a budding romance.  It’s about to turn physical when Nanase’s older brother, Yoichi, discovers the affair, and he isn’t at all happy.  Suddenly, what was a fast developing love affair is now an awkward teen romance.  Heiji wants to appease Yoichi, but his attempts at a truce go nowhere.  Koichi believes that his brother would accept him having a gay lover if he thought that it was Koichi on top of Heiji.

In the short story, “Go Forth and Love, Boy Maiden,” Kinsei High first year, Mizusawa, thinks the school’s male nurse, Asano, is hoping to get in his pants, but Mizusawa doesn’t want to be another in a long line of Asano’s boy lovers.  But would he be?

Also, an owner harbors deep feelings for his android in “Automatic Smile: Not-For-Ever,” and in “Love Changes,” an older teen discovers a sly ‘tween who probably knows too much.

THE LOWDOWN:  The stories in Ordinary Crush 2 are light on the kind of explicit depictions of sex that identify yaoi manga (a graphic subset of boys’ love manga).  These tales are more playful, sly, and comic.  Manga-ka (creator) Hyouta Fujiyama emphasis comic atmosphere in the art over draftsmanship, although the drawing chops are good.

POSSIBLE AUDIENCE:  As yaoi, Ordinary Crush 2 is more a comic romp than a randy romp.
