Giant Robot is proud is proud to host a book signing by Jeffrey Brown.

Since emerging on the comics scene in 2003 with his self-published Clumsy, Jeffrey Brown has amassed a large and loyal following of readers and fans. The Chicago-based writer was raised on Marvel Comics and received instruction at the Art Institute in Chicago, but his rough and honest storytelling is most closely akin to do-it-yourself zines and indie rock. Neither teen melodramas nor soap operas, Brown's autobiographical tales brilliantly convey the awkwardness, hope, and bittersweet details of doomed romance. His latest work, Cat Getting Out of a Bag, redirects his observant eye toward the tenuous relationship between humans and cats.

In addition to writing and drawing his own books, Brown has contributed to Fantagraphics' Mome anthologies, Drawn & Quarterly's Showcase series, The Chicago Reader, NPR's This American Life, and Death Cab for Cutie's Directions DVD.

The signing will take place from 6:30 - 8:30 on Friday, April 20.
