The final tally is in, and Major League Gaming has put the number of gamers that will be attending this weekend's MLG Pro Circuit Toronto, Presented by Ford at over 900. That includes both professional and amateur gamers from across Canada and the United States, and all of them will be competing for cash prizes from a purse of more than $70,000 U.S. This stop on the Circuit is a featured event of Fan Expo 2008, running this Friday, August 22nd through Sunday, August 24th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in downtown Toronto.

306 of the competitors call Canada home, and they are not all Ontarians. There are gamers attending from nearly every province, including Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. All other competitors are making the trip up from the States. The event will feature three four-on-four tournaments: Halo 3 ($20,000 top prize), Gears of War and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 ($4,000 top prize).

The Halo 3 tournament isn't just the biggest of the three because of the money up for grabs, it's also got the most teams competing, at a total of 138 teams (552 players). The Gears of War tournament will see 67 teams (268 players) competing, while the Rainbow Six Vegas 2 tournament will have 26 teams (104 players) vying for the prize.

We'll be covering the competitions, as well as a number of other events happening at Fan Expo 2008. We'll be making our way across the show floor, talking to attendees, gamers, creators and, hopefully, some of the celebrity guests. There is always so much going on it's hard to see everything, even with three days to do it all. We event heard a small rumour that Gears of War 2 might be making an appearance, but who knows, it's just a rumour, right?
