Charlie Parker, the Golden Eagle has returned to life. His plan is to introduce himself to the people of St.Roch and tell the world that he will now help Hawkman, the man who inspired him, in his crusade against crime, and to defend the southern city. However, instead of revealing to Hawkman the secret of his return, he prefers to invite him to a gala. Unfortunately, Hawkman’s villains also plan to attend.
The Golden Eagle is a straw character. Created within the pages of the old Justice League series as a junior stand in for Hawkman, he graduated to the Teen Titans, where the writers deemed it wise to eliminate this redundant character. If this storyline is about the young wolf trying to replace the original icon, it won’t be new territory. However, I’m willing to watch and see where the writers are taking this.
What Eaglesham’s work lacks in hooplas, he gains with his competent and well-designed figures. Although the facial features of his character are nowhere near Stephen Sadowski’s work, it’s similar. It must be the inking by von Grawbadger and Stucker that creates this feel. Yet, I think this team is the wrong for Eaglesham, as they keep too much of his crosshatching. Thicker inks would suit his style better.
