Crunchyroll, Inc., released today the next major update of its popular Anime video streaming application for Android devices. The new release supports free ad-supported streaming of all shows, as well as premium member access to exclusive early released content of anime broadcast in Japan. The previous version of the Crunchyroll Android application was only accessible to premium members. More information can be found on www.crunchyroll.com.

The new updated application can be downloaded from the Android store (http://bit.ly/crunchyroll-android) and requires Android OS 2.1 or above. Much like the Crunchyroll site itself, viewers can enjoy Crunchyroll's vast anime library for free with ad-supported streaming to their Android device. Viewers can also sign up for a premium membership to gain instant access to the latest episodes from hit anime titles airing one hour after Japanese broadcast.

Crunchyroll VP of Product James Lin said, “The tremendous growth of Android market has provided us with an opportunity to address the anime needs of Android users and provide them with that same great Crunchyroll experience on their Android devices as we have on other platforms. More importantly, this release brings us one step closer to achieving our goal to empower all anime fans with the ability to access their favorite shows legally, whenever they want to watch it.”

Viewers can also stream anime from Crunchyroll.com, Crunchyroll's Anime iPhone and iPad Apps, Vizio VIA internet-enabled televisions, Roku, WD TV Live, and Boxee set-top box solutions, as well as through affiliate partners.

Crunchyroll premium members will have access to the largest anime and drama selection, same-day access for simulcasted titles, no advertisements and can be viewed in 480p-to-720p quality on selected titles. More information about the Crunchyroll membership plan can be found at: http://www.crunchyroll.com/freetrial/
