After seeing his article through a link on Twitter, Valiant Entertainment's Chief Creative Officer Dinesh Shamdasani contacted St-Louis and offered to replace many of the original Valiant comics he had collected in the early 1990s. St-Louis says “I was one of the original fans who supported Valiant comics before they became big in 1993. I had all of the early issues of Archer and Armstrong, the Eternal Warrior, Rai, X-O Manowar, Shadowman, Turok Dinosaur Hunter, Solar Man of the Atom, Magnus Robot Fighter and the Unity crossover. I was such a Valiant geek that I was one of those readers who had collected the original six-issues of Harbinger and mailed in a coupon inserted in these early issues to receive the prequel to the series, Harbinger #0. I don’t think there are a lot of fans who can claim that.”
While Valiant Entertainment cannot replace the original comics St-Louis lost, they offered to send him various reprints that are under the publisher’s license or ownership. Valiant Entertainment which has returned to active publishing in 2011, has aggressively scheduled reprints of the early Valiant comics so many fans such as St-Louis enjoyed and that have been out of print or unaffordable in the secondary collectors’ market for over a decade.
St-Louis says “the 2013 Calgary flood has affected thousands of people, but quickly the whole community has rallied together to help victims of the floods. It’s great that this spirit of service and support has extended beyond Canada’s border and encouraged an American comic book publisher to help. I’m very grateful for Valiant Entertainment’s act of kindness.”
