THQ officially announced today, or last night for those people who attended the THQ Superstar Challenge, that the WWE Smackdown vs. Raw franchise will continue, and it will be available on more platforms than ever before. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 is already under development for Xbox 360, Playstation 2 and PSP, and will also be coming to Wii, Nintendo DS and Playstation 3. The game will give players a whole new experience and enhanced control, as it will debut the new Superstar Fighting Styles. Each of the eight unique fighting styles will have its own strategies and exclusive attributes. Plus, the addition of the game's Struggle Submission System will give players more intuitive and natural control over their Superstars, using the analog controls. Players will now be able to control the amount of pressure their Superstars use against their opponents. There will be a lot of updates in the new game, added by fan request, such as a greater ECW presence, new rosters, more environmental hot spots, a combined Season and General Manager Mode experience, improved out-of-ring action, enhanced online community support and more. And if you haven't already guessed, each of the versions for the three new platforms will take advantage of their own unique control systems and, in the Playstation 3's case, power. As Bob Aniello, senior vice president of worldwide marketing for THQ, said, “With the addition of fresh, innovative game play on the Wii, the tremendous capabilities of the PLAYSTATION 3 system and unique handheld experiences for Nintendo DS and wireless devices, gamers can now truly live the life of a WWE Superstar and choose from numerous ways to play.” So expect to see some new ways to play. WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 is currently scheduled for release this fall.
