Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops, the leader of the X-Men travels into the mind of the woman he loves, Emma Frost to remove the sample of the evil creature called the Void. Will Summers be able to root out the Void from the mind of the Frost, or will he be caught in the trap he has set up for the vicious creature that has plagued the super hero the Sentry for years?

I didn‘t expect that I would enjoyed this issue. I haven’t been satisfied with Fraction on Uncanny X-Men for months. But here, he shows some better insight into the characters and has set up some interesting subplots for future issues. I like how he showed Cyclops succeeding at the end of the issue only to pull the rug from the Pyrrhic victory and show us he had actually failed in his mission.

Dodson is a much more enjoyable artist than Greg Land. I like how he moulded the white space reality inside of Emma’s mind and played with the panels in the page to further the effects. I doubt Land would have landed such a creative layout. His storytelling is also quite good in this issue. I like the diamond effect used to depict Emma Frost and the ice effect on Iceman. Dodson, by the way draws beautiful women.

Rating: 8/10
