Review Marathon
The X-Men combat the various predators X creatures sent last issue to destroy them and the population of the mutant island of Utopia. Will the reinvigorated X-Men ranks defeat the threat? There is this habit in comic books to make the first appearance of a threat truly great and insurmountable to the heroes. But often, when that threat returns in the same series or against another hero, its might and the scope of the threat is greatly diminished. I have not read the original appearance of the lone predator X creature, but it seemed like it was something to warrant respect. The five creatures in this story are easily defeated and quite non threatening. They’ve lost their appeal. Everything Fraction and Land have done in this series thus far has only diluted the X-Men. I long for great adventures for this team. At least, the fight looked good with Land getting better at drawing women’s anatomy with realistic proportions.

Rating: 7.5/10
