Little has changed since the death of Fred Jones. Daphne is venting her grief and anger – LOTS of anger – on the monsters surrounding the survivors’ compound. Scrappy returned last issue, and is keen on joining Daph on her routine hunts. However, both hate each other, and the basis of their fragile partnership is their shared bloodlust. Yeah. That’s promising.

Velma continues to struggle as the administrator of the survivors’ colony. Her assistants have proved to be less than capable, but at the moment, they represent the best of a bad lot. Meanwhile, Cliffy continues to believe in an idealized Scrappy-Doo; the cute puppy of the old cartoon series. Good luck with that.

This issue continues the adventures of Secret Squirrel, a back-up feature in which I’ve long since lost interest. However, there is a teaser at the end suggesting the conclusion is nigh. Can’t be nigh enough for me.

The creative team adds legendary inker Tom Palmer to its ranks. He has been embellishing comics for close to 50 years, mostly at Marvel, where he is known for such series as the Avengers and Star Wars. Though his skill set has necessarily evolved over the years, it’s clear he knows his business, and Scooby Apocalypse is privileged to have him.
