One of the things I appreciate about Scooby-Doo Team-Up is the variety of co-stars featured in the title, and regardless of how unlikely a pairing they may seem, it always seems to work. Such is the case when Mystery Inc. meets Yogi Bear.

Sure, they could have gone for the obvious foodie nature of both Yogi and Shaggy, or Yogi and Scooby’s ability to talk (more or less). But in this case, writer Fisch has crafted an actual mystery, though the solution falls into Agatha Christie trap of not providing the reader with the full story until the end. But hey, it’s a comic book. You forgive a lot, you know?

And while both properties may be Hanna-Barbera, there are distinct rendering styles for both. To their credit, artists Walter Carzon and Horacio Ottolini merge the two styles rather effectively.

As all-ages titles go, this one is tolerable to my grown-up sensibilities (which, admittedly, are few). My only grievance was a single panel in which threat is conveyed in some vague manner, yet not depicted. Perhaps it’s a rule not to be broken, or some other guideline to be maintained for all-age titles. Nevertheless, it was awkward, and immediately took me out of the story.
