Sure Batman is all dark and brooding, and Wolverine is the best there is at what he does. But to off-set all that seriousness, we need sometimes need a more light-hearted hero. A Kramer to the Constanza, a Ringo to the Lennon, a Groucho to the DuMont. In this case – Pastic Man!

Plas has never been especially serious. With his pal Woozy Winks, the one-time felon has jokingly hidden himself where authorities least expect to find him: within the ranks of the FBI. But while handling the duties of a special agent, he needs the help of Mystery Inc. to foil the curse of a gypsy fortune teller.

This a fun read, and with the likes of Woozy Winks in the mix, can Doiby Dickles be far behind. Scooby-Doo Team Up may be that repository for dormant DC heroes to get a little screen time. Kind of like Love Boat and Murder, She Wrote, employing the semi-retired.

My only complain is that the book sometimes appears to be assembled, rather than drawn. It’s as if the artists have stock imagery of the various characters that they plug into any given scene, streamlining the production process. This probably happens more often than we realize, as I noticed an all-too-familiar pose of another hero in another book. Well, why not. It worked in animated cartoons, so for Scooby, it’s not necessarily out of place.
