San Diego Comic Con International reports selling out of badges Saturday morning within only two hours! If you were one of the tens of thousands anxiously awaiting 0800 PST to click the link in the email SDCCI had sent its Member ID holders, you may have actually been too late. Sales appeared to begin at exactly 0759, and those that entered the online waiting room at 8 a.m. likely found themselves much farther from the front of the queue than they'd expected.

Many potential badge buyers even found the link contained in their emails from SDCCI to be erroneous, either opening up a Google document instead of a web page or even simply leading to dead ends, wasting valuable seconds in which 4-day passes and subsequently all badges sold out. The Member ID registration system itself seemed ambiguous and flawed. For professionals, venders, and press, logging into your Member ID to see nothing of your professional status and then to receive emails about purchasing badges was an anxiety inducing ordeal as well.

San Diego Comic Con may have succeeded in selling its badges in a short period of time (compared to last year's fiasco), but there are still quite a few bugs that need to be worked out of this system. The long strides made just this year, however, portend better things in the near future. Let's just hope I don't get stopped at the badge pick-up again this year to be told that I'm a vendor, when I'm most definitely not.

See you on preview night.
